To try to get this working, I recently purchased a secondary amp with RCA inputs to power the extra speakers. The additional speakers 5 pairs are mounted in the ceilings throughout the house. I also have a speaker selector box so that I can select which room or rooms I want to send the sound to. The output can be mono. I just want some sound to the other rooms. Any ideas short of buying a new amp with a 2nd zone output? Thanks, -Rich DiPietro Hi, Rich, This is a question that we get from time to time for various receivers so I’ll answer for your specific receiver but will also give suggestions that would work for any receiver. Obviously the best option to accomplish what you are trying to do would be to use a “Zone 2” line level output or a “B Speakers” speaker output if your receiver had either of these which it doesn’t. But there are other options. On some receivers, there are “tape output” or “preamp” outputs that could be connected to an external amplifier like the one you bought to drive the additional speakers.
hooking up wireless speakers to stereo receiver without bluetooth [Solved]
One thing I learned pretty early in life is that speakers are not meant to be wired together in a haphazard manner. In fact, whenever you plan to connect more than two speakers to a two-channel amplifier — or more than four speakers to a four-channel amp — there are a few things to consider, not the least of which is the amps ability to handle low-impedance loads. Ignoring the basics is like playing Russian roulette with your amplifier: If youre lucky, itll drive the speakers without incident; if youre not, the amp will fry.
The great thing about a multiple-speaker hookup is that once you master only two basic wiring procedures — “series” and “parallel” — the world is yours to conquer. When you know how many speakers youre going to use and the impedance driving capability of your amplifier, youll be able to select a wiring scheme that will deliver the best sonic and electrical results.
May 21, · Yes, you need to open the Apple Audio MIDI setup in your utilities folder then click the plus sign at the bottom left to create a multi-output device, select your internal speakers and your bluetooth speaker (this needs to be pair with your computer) you should see the Multi-Output device in the right side window.
A DJ mixer is a preamp I think you mean Poweramp.. There is plenty of top notch non-powered brand new speakers on the market so antiquated does not even factor here. Come this is simple stuff LOL. I wasn’t insinuating that, only self powered speakers would work I was insinuating that if the speakers themselves have One RCA Jack per speaker Not a paired connection, Meaning one Red one White They’re more then likely an older speaker, as most Audio companies quit doing this in the 80’s.
Companies that are still doing home audio, Opted for this traditional copper gauged wire. The guy is talking about. This was Back when the company was trying to break into home audio department. Cerwin Vega tried to market this as a feature an innovation over, competition from other bigger home audio companies of the day. All these one jack speakers sounded like shit, Regardless of size. All those speakers had this fuzzy Mid to Hi range sound with absolutely no bass depth.
A lot of these companies didn’t even survive, This is probably why Cerwin Vega doesn’t do much home stereo now.
Can I use speakers on a laptop normal earphone output
Separate Components preamp and power amp Ideally you need to be running separate preamps and power amps. You use a separate low-level crossover to split the preamp’s output into main high-frequency or HF and sub low-frequency or LF signals. Feed a stereo crossover from the outputs of your preamp or player.
The crossover’s HF outputs are fed to your main amplifier and speakers.
For example, if you connect an 8 ohm speaker to the 8 ohm output on a tube amp, the internal resistance of the source (that is, the tube output stage) is exactly that of the load, or speaker. » Ohm cooking understanding amps, speakers and impedance I have a Randall Rd with a back panel with one 16ohms output, and two paralels.
Can anyone recommend any car audiophiles I can pester for w RMS amp suggestions? Just try to buy one from a reputable manufacturer, so when they say ” W RMS” it’s hopefully true. Note that most car audio amps are power-rated rated at 4 Ohms. The Bose speaker appears to be 8 Ohms, like most home audio speakers. The specs say “Compatible with recievers or amplifiers rated for Ohms.
For a given voltage output, power is inversely related to load impedance. How long and what sort of volume permissible if so? You don’t need to burn-in electronics. The performance of a solid state circuit should not change for years or decades unless something fails. If the performance changes after a few hours use, it’s a very-poor design. A good manufacturer will test the item before it leaves the factory to make sure it meets or exceeds the specs. A speaker might “loosen-up” after several hours of use.

Two amps – one set of speakers Teeza wrote: Amps can have such different and distinct voices that I find it hard to accept that auto-equalisation can turn a humble device into an electronic mynah bird. Is mimicry just careful equalisation?
It depends on the load requirements of the amplifier and the impedances of the speakers, neither of which you have specified. If the amplifier has a 4 ohm output transformer tap, or it is solid state and well-specified into a 4 ohm load, you can put 2 x 8ohms or 4 x 16ohms in parallel.
One should respect the manufacturer’s minimum impedance or you’ll be paying your local tech to repair the output section of your amp. If an amp is rated for watts output power at 4 ohms, then any speaker combination that takes you below 4 ohms is inviting trouble. In this case a a load that is 4 ohms or greater is OK. If you make the speaker impedance higher than the amp, you will get less power out but the amp will be working in a comfortable zone.
Some guitar players will actually increase the speaker impedance in order to derate the output power of a an amp. Lets say you have a single 12″ combo amp and the amp puts out 50 watts into an 8 ohm speaker.

On the end of the wire is a connector that can plug into a socket or “jack” on your computer. The first thing you want to do is to be sure that this connector is compatible with your computer. Most computer speakers and microphones have a connector that looks something like one of these: If your speaker or microphone plug doesn’t look like this, other types of audio connectors are mentioned at the end of this section. Technically, these are 3.
You can see from the picture that the exposed metal part is about a half inch or 13 millimeters long. There are a couple of things you can take note of from the picture. First, the plastic jackets of these two plugs are different colors. Second, there is one insulator ring around the metal part of the lower, gray plug. There are two insulator rings on the upper, green plug.

Excellent advice re laptop connection Many Thanks Jeff hi i was wondering if anyone knows the wiring diagram for a 3 plug 5. Thanks a lot arungeorge hey… i formated my pc… but i dont have my driver disk… i downloaded most of them and its working perfectly except for my 5. I have an antique laptop with 4 USB Ports and only a blue computer component and round also computer component jacks on the back.
I see that connecting a subwoofter to the phone jack is not ideal as the subwooffer is used primarily to boost the base.
May 20, · That means you can connect two 8-Ohm speakers, but if the speakers are 4-Ohms you can only connect one pair per amp. Thanks that makes sense. As I have a mixer I guess I don’t need the Y connector.

You may be having problems finding what you need because the terminology you’re using input, output is backwards of industry convention. Think about it this way: Some devices generate and provide a signal
To get started with the actual hook-up, you’ll connect the subwoofer to the amplifier using the RCA cable. If you want a stereo hook-up, you’ll need two sets of RCA cables. Connect the subwoofer output to the amplifier input.
I love my powered mixer and don’t really want to replace it and most of the time it provides all the channels I need. But occasionally, I might run out of channels. I have a Y connector XLR cable that will allow me to plug two microphones into a single input, but then the volume and EQ cannot be adjusted independently. I have a Mackie S powered mixer Mackie S running passive speakers with a non powered monitor output to which I connect a series of powered monitors as floor wedges.
It has 8 channels with an XLR input and a line input on each channel. I am wondering if I can use a non powered mixer such as the Behringer Xenyx Small Format Mixer or any similar mixer as a sub-mixer by connecting it to my powered mixer. I am just using this mixer as an example and not asking for opinions on the quality of that particular mixer.
Then I am thinking I can plug additional microphones, guitars, pianos, electronic drums, etc. Are there potential pitfalls? Will it cause any problems? And if it is feasible, should I use an instrument cable or speaker cable to connect the two mixers together? Could I send the main signal out through the “tape out” RCA jacks of the sub mixer into the tape input RCA of the powered mixer and send the monitor output from the sub mixer into channel 7 or 8 on the main mixer to preserve the ability to control the monitor feed from the sub mixer?

Watching a movie on a properly set up surround sound system, or listening to your music through a new set of speakers can be an amazing experience. But, the key to a great home theater isn’t just spending a lot of money. Setting up the system correctly is just as important as what you buy.
From the above specs, we establish that ONE DC Audio k is able to put out 7,w RMS @1-ohms. Therefore, in theory, If we strap TWO DC Audio k together we can achieve 15,w RMS @2ohms!! Step 2. Connect Gauge Speaker Wire from the Positive (+) Speaker Output on the Speaker Output on the.
Sync your iOS device including music over a shared Wi-Fi connection You can use a third-party audio device to connect speakers to your Mac. Install drivers for the audio device, if needed, before you plug the device into the Mac. You need to install a driver if: Then use GarageBand to record the music on your Mac. To record from your home stereo to your Mac, follow these steps: Attach the RCA connectors to your stereo receiver’s auxiliary aux output. This might be called “Record” or “Tape Out” on some receivers.
Connect the other end of the cable to the audio input port on your Mac or to your Mac-connected audio interface. Turn on your home stereo. Make sure that your stereo is set to output via auxiliary. You don’t need to install additional software unless you have a surround sound speaker system. For help hooking up your speaker system, read the documentation that came with it. If surround-sound content plays on only two speakers of a 5-speaker or more surround-sound setup, it might indicate a configuration problem with the speakers, or that the application being used to play the content on the Mac doesn’t support surround sound output.

August 17, 9: This is all fine but you are still limited with Bluetooth which is why no one really makes large Bluetooth systems but simple portable devices. As stated before bandwidth with Bluetooth is limited in he first place so you will not get the sound you would over a wireless 5ghz signal and there is still the range of Bluetooth which is very limited.
Although it has improved in distance it is still not ideal. If I am going to want to run a larger system, I would definitely want the quality and Bluetooth will not give you that. Stick with either hardwiring your speakers with a docking station or jack or go wireless.
Can I connect more than 2 speakers to the CONNECT:AMP? The Connect: Amp is designed for a single pair of speakers- it is a stereo amplifier, right and left channel. However, if your speakers are rated at 8 ohms, you can wire up to 2 pairs, or 4 speakers, to one Connect: Amp- you just won’t have independent control between those two pairs of.
The strength of the electrical signal changes the extent of the vibration and the resulting movement of the drivers is heard by the listener as an airborne sound wave. The quality and clarity of the amplifier signal has an effect on the quality of the sound that the speakers eventually produce. Bi-wiring allows these signals to be used in the most efficient way and can result in small but significant improvements. There are the cable inputs on the back that are usually coloured red and black, where the red positive receives the signal from the amplifier and the black negative returns the signal back to the amp to complete the electrical circuit.
On the front of the cabinet are the speaker ‘drivers’ which vary in size depending on what sound frequency they reproduce. In a two-way speaker there are two types of driver – the bass driver which handles the low frequency bass, and a smaller ‘tweeter’ that handles the other sound frequencies, generally those above about 3kHz. A three-way speaker is similar but has three types of driver for low frequency bass, mid-range and high frequency tweeter.
Although the number of drivers on most speaker designs will tell you if it is a two-way or three-way unit, this is not always the case as some speakers use multiple drivers for bass, for instance. Between the cable inputs and the drivers is an electrical circuit called the ‘crossover’.
